Ramadan, The ninth month of Islamic Hijri Calendar is the holy month for the Muslims of all around the world. This month of Ramadan invigorate all the Muslims and encouraged them to participate in self-discipline with fasting throughout the day. Muslims start fast from dawn (Suhoor) before Fajar prayer and break the fast (Iftar) at Dusk with Mugrib Prayer. Breaking of the fast (Iftar) mostly done together with a community or whole family members which are the best way to stay close to your society and your family.


During fasting from dawn to dusk this Ramadan may create difficulties for the Muslims due to the heat and lengthy days since Ramadan falls during the peak summer months in 2017. I have some kind of tips to ensure you to continued good health during this heated Ramadan,


Get proper rest during the whole Ramadan. Your ideal sleep should 6-8 hours a day because you might not be able to accomplish your sleep during the night because you need to wake up for suhoor to start your fast. Less sleep can make you feel irritable and tired. To avoid dehydration and thirst rest in cool place during the hot day. Dehydration and thirst might be lost your sleep at night.

Never give up your exercise due to your fasting. You should exercise lightly and choose yoga or walk for de-stress and avoid tired. If you really need a gym just wait after an hour of Iftar.

Breakfast of fast includes dates which give much energy, Fruits juices, soup, carbohydrates, fiber rich to give you energy throughout the day. Avoid fried oily and sweet foods because they digest much faster. Avoid overeating at Iftar and Suhoor may lead to weight gain. Fast Breakfast very important does not skip your breakfast for an hour sleep. skipping Suhoor may lead to dehydration and gastric problems. If you overeating in Iftar may skip your Suhoor.

At the time of Iftar avoid cola, coffee, tea, fried and sweet foods, chips, crackers, pickles, salt, and oil. Include milk, fruit juices, soups, and vegetables in you Iftar. Following are some healthy tips to follow during this Ramadan

  • Drink 8 glasses of water daily from iftar to suhoor to prevent dehydration and constipation. 
  • Sleep for 6 to 8 hours a day to get sufficient mental and physical rest. Less sleep means you will feel tired during the day.
  • Have a well-balanced iftar meal with dates, soup, salad, a main dish, fruits and a small piece of Ramadan sweet
  • A light workout before Iftar gets you moving and is time well spent. 
  • Have Suhoor to give you energy to kick-start your day!
  • Stay in cool areas during the hottest part of days to avoid overheating and thirst.

Unhealthy Habits To Avoid In Ramadan Kareem

  • Avoid Eating Large Amounts of Food at Iftar.
  • Do Not Go to sleep Immediately after Iftar or Suhoor. Give Your Body time to digest the food. 

Tips To Prevent Thirst

  • Make sure you drink the adequate amount of fluids and water between iftar and suhoor to prevent dehydration.
  • Limit your intake of fried foods and foods high in fat and sugar
  • Avoid foods high in salts such as pickles, canned foods, salty crackers, and nuts. 
  • Quench your thirst with water rather than sugar-sweetened beverages that are rich in sugar.
